![]() DJ Kompact also known as Matthias Kassmannhuber or El Queso started playing drums as a kid, a couple of years later he started to discover the tools of the music producer. He's been DJing since 1998, started producing a year later, after the purchase of his first sampler. You can catch him spinning records mainly in the Vienna/Graz/Salzburg area, but that's not even remotely his geographical limit. Europewhise as far as London, he's been playing tunes alongside artists such as DJ DSL, Sweet Susie, The 45 King, Kool Keith, Afu-Ra, The Waxolutionists, DJ Cutex, just to mention a few. His style ranges from extra slow instrumental hiphop to uptempo trueschool breakbeats, faroff from any bling-bling clichés and with a definite emphasis on danceability. There is no mandatory BPM threshold in his sets, as can be heard pretty often these days, to make people move their feet. Hiphop can do better than doorags and "i'm a fuck you up" attitude, says Kompact, an aficionado of hiphop in it's true sense: the love for b-boy storytelling, sample heavy instrumentals and that little tweak that makes you want to either head to the dancefloor, or coming back from it, grab another drink from the bar.
