This time i would like to introduce you to an upcoming 12inch from Austria by "TAKO" called "NO DOE" (LISTEN).

To keep it short I will concentrate on the instrumentals and one of three vocal tracks called "das lied der zoia feat. selbstlaut & def ill". This song is based on the Martyrdom of Zoya Kosmodemsyanskaya, who was publicly hung by the germans in the village of Petrischevo during the 2nd world war after setting several houses on fire protesting against the occupying force. Before that, they cut one of her breasts and tore her fingernails ... I have listened to that track for several times now and i'm hooked already. By the combination of meaningful lyrics, the deep string and piano based instrumental and of course the samples of an in the 70ties re-recorded "war song from that era" ... digg this!!!
In general i would split this Ep into two parts that show the diversity in Tako's producing: three vocal tracks based on deep instrumentals reminding me of the late 90ties NY era - especially of "Saukrates - Father Time" and seven samplebased and indeed very nice "two to three minute instrumentals skits" that result from tako's heavy diggin for his dopeshit store i suppose ;)

i would personally put it in my bag next to Mr Modo's "Homemade Bun's" or "Dexter's Hi-Hat Club"... My personal favs: "das lied der zoia" and the instrumental skits in general starting with "record hustle", "inderlude", "datum" and "can't trust white people". Nice lyrics by Digga Mindz on "Schnee" too, not to forget about that... available 2011. to be continued! lens j
