Since the Team at Video Lan Project is nearing the release of version 1.0.0 of their famous VLC media player, also my personal choice of media player, I figured I spread the word and make you aware that there is a Skin contest going on right now for the final release too. As for this release candidate, it contains lots of new features like new codecs, various playback core improvements (frame-by-frame, live-recording, instant pausing, etc...), interface improvements and many bugfixes.
