my friends i'm back from the cap with tons of photos, thoughts and influences. i have recommendations to make: two lately released and must have treasures. the "jazz liberatorz - clin d'oeil" and "dday one - heavy migration" album
"JAZZ LIBERATORZ"
is a paris based trio founded in 1999 (dj damage, dusty and madhi), releasing on kif records, which is well know for artists like birdy nam nam, pepe bradock, ... jazz liberatorz are producing mad funky, jazzy hip hop featuring the dopes mcs (apani b, sadat x, j-live, raashan ahmad of cown city rockers, buckshot, tableek, fatlip, ...) their premier full length album "clin d'oeil" just hit the recordstores worldwide and
is available as a 6x12" box with the album as cd and a shirt (limited to 500 pieces). you love hip hop, you gonna love this! and there is another guy i wanted to tell you about:
"DDAY ONE"
who was definitely one of my most favourite producers since heard his first album "loop extensions" he released on a limited vinyl edition in 2006. after someappearences on several compilations (especially on project mooncircle), the new double LP "heavy migration" is out, comin up with deep bass, kickin drums and very beautiful melancholic guidelines.
in general - and beside of the fact, that his music is a "stand alone" because it has something in it i didn't hear before and that i cant explain but feel - it reminds me of the golden years of trip hop with dj krush's album "meiso" or dj shadow's "entroducing" a little bit. the name of his official website and the statement on its first page say it all: www.samplist.com i love it. my current album favourite: "at the village gate".
check both artists other releases if you like what you hear. they're all dope!
dday one - heavy mirgration (available on 2LP, content label)
jazz liberatorz - clin d'oeil (available on CD or in limited box with 6x12", kif records)
