A friend of ours aka mr jazzmen from germany has some nice "little" project called YOUSPOTS going on. For the last few months he and some friends has been working on this website that enables you to share and find spots, runs and locations for all sorts of (extreme)sports, ... The site just recently launched and now it's time to share spots and extend the database to build a community and a world wide web of extreme sports locations, meet-ups etc. ... enjoy.

I almost got lost in the still seemingly endless grounds of surprisingly cheap black gold, but I made it back and took a few gems with me. A little 60 minutes mix i found on my hard disk while migratin to a nu laptop. i did this some years ago (must have been 2007something...), but somehow it got lost. anyway, still kinda ruff but thought i finally post it, cause i still like it.

While Christmas is heading our way with big santa-boots steps, 2010 is coming to an end and its about time to look back on a blasting year in Dancehall Reggae Music. This time i would like to introduce you to an upcoming 12inch from Austria by "TAKO" called "NO DOE" (LISTEN).

To keep it short I will concentrate on the instrumentals and one of three vocal tracks called "das lied der zoia feat. selbstlaut & def ill". This song is based on the Martyrdom of Zoya Kosmodemsyanskaya, who was publicly hung by the germans in the village of Petrischevo during the 2nd world war after setting several houses on fire protesting against the occupying force. Before that, they cut one of her breasts and tore her fingernails ... I have listened to that track for several times now and i'm hooked already. By the combination of meaningful lyrics, the deep string and piano based instrumental and of course the samples of an in the 70ties re-recorded "war song from that era" ... digg this!!!
In general i would split this Ep into two parts that show the diversity in Tako's producing: three vocal tracks based on deep instrumentals reminding me of the late 90ties NY era - especially of "Saukrates - Father Time" and seven samplebased and indeed very nice "two to three minute instrumentals skits" that result from tako's heavy diggin for his dopeshit store i suppose ;)

i would personally put it in my bag next to Mr Modo's "Homemade Bun's" or "Dexter's Hi-Hat Club"... My personal favs: "das lied der zoia" and the instrumental skits in general starting with "record hustle", "inderlude", "datum" and "can't trust white people". Nice lyrics by Digga Mindz on "Schnee" too, not to forget about that... available 2011. to be continued! lens j
