don't miss this. "How it Should Sound 2LP" by "Damu the Fudgemunk" - Washington DC Beatmaker - available on Vinyl, CD and as Digital Download from April 16th 2010 on Redefinition Records. Until then, an excerpt of the album for free download. "Buy this record, ... don't make me loose my temper!!"

And as we speak about Redefinition Records (digg a little deeper there); if you haven't got the "Y Society - Travel At Your Own Pace Instrumentals"...  get them. They must be somewhere out there, ahhh, hmmm here they are, and they're dope ... +++ another goodie for you people: "Damu vs Joe Buck - Madvillain ReVisions". More of that later this year, aswell as another record, called "Collisions" (announced for December 2010) watch out!

Enough from the Music-front for now. Now, for real! I got work to do!

Hmmm... One of my most favourite bands and labels featuring the 3 Titans: Khalil Jackson, Jorden Plaines, and Dallas Ifill. Three gifted fifth-graders with their sights set on higher education. On their debut 7 for Dunham/Daptone Records, C-O-L-L-E-G-E b/w Life of a Scholar, the precocious eleven-year-olds trade rhymes about the benefits of going to college and the determination it takes to get there over two sides of old-school, hard-as-nails beats provided by the notorious Menahan Street Band. That's exactly what we need!!! Rap with substance and motivation!! Please, give me more of that!!

Also check out other Daptone releases "The Daktaris", "Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings" or last but definitelly not least, "The Budos Band". Love this one.

4 years were passing by since i posted about his first instrumental album "Sidestreets" on our blog. And now he's back; with another 18 track full length instrumental storytelling thingy called "Dreaming in public" (download) that is continuing where he has "stopped". At dope Instrumentalness accompanied by well selected word samples that are telling their story ... a priori - his story, or part of it.

But that's not it. A limited edition of 300 whitelabel 7inches featuring one of my most beloved MCs on this planet will drop/hit the stores this week. "Szenario - Change feat. Dudley Perkins aka Declaime". Don't miss this one and support this guy!

And last but not least this one. Don't miss Dj Buzz - 7" Box Set. Limited to 100 with Poster, Supernice Shirt & of course. The Vinyls!!! Enjoy. Seems like i am diggin, ain't i?

I must have said it once, but i'm at least goin to say it once again. Check out the Debut LP from Kalhex. A formation of Akromaga"Lex", Parental and Le Makizar from Paris! +++ Watch out for their new 12" and a Solo Instrumental 2LP by Lex (to be released later this year). Lex is one of my most favourite producers at the moment and i'm really curious about what's coming up here. However, Keep your eyes on that guys!!!!! If you digg Godfather Don, INI, Fat Jon, Nujabes ... you will definitelly like this. And if you're not so much into French lyrics; Instrumentals speak ONE LANGUAGE only! Check out their website and stuff on youtube. Nice remixes of Royal Flush and Edo G to be found.

Square Lohkoh's 2LP "Zulu Nation" is edutainment and conscious hip hop in french. Tracks dealing with topics like drugs, the bling bling crazyness or violence against women. i love it! Very nice production. (youtube)

Phalo Pantoja - Autres Mondes. Very nice production in here featured by French and English speaking artists like Jaahydd, Ina, Mr. Blue, Séisme, and many other's i have also never heard about before - which does not mean, that i don't like, what i hear. jazzy style!!! i recommend this aswell as i do with all the others.

Mind Conscience - Pierre a l'edifice, i don't know a lot about them, but i like, what i know. and the - from my side - long awaited

Fantastic Planet Album that was just released about a month ago. La Fine Equipe teaming up with one of the most talented US rappers of his generation; Mr. Mattic, ASM (both known from Wax Tailor) and Astrid Engberg (known from Berry Weight, i posted some time ago). Listen to a track here on youtube

+++ If you can still find their first ltd LP "La Boulangerie Pt.1" - one white vinyl - go for it. Nice sample based work out on tracks like "My Love" by Ottis Redding, ... And as i'm talking about that, also check out La Fine Equipe affiliated producer Mr.Modo and his Homemade Bun's EP. I think i wrote about that one already, but why not mention it again. Lay back and listen. French "Soft Porn" Sample based stuff, ... i REALLY love this one too - find Tomato Sauce on my last mixtape or on orange vinyl :) for now ...

i catch up doin something i should have done months ago, but somehow i always just missed it. i would have so totally loved to see this concert, that was taking place for the - i think - 25th anniversary of IAM in 2008. just the youtube video gives me goose-bumps every time i watsch it. also check out the live version of "nes sous la meme etoile" (youtube), one of the dopest IAM tracks and my alltime favourite ever with "demain c'est loin". shuriken get's crazy on that one! enjoy this ... "demain c'est loin" (youtube).

From the hardworking headz over at duzzdownsan.com comes the first video from Amenofils Album "La Prophétie de Samarra" (released by Duzz Down San on the 2nd of October 2009). Tune called "Mochtlos" featuring Raptoar.... Check their site for more...

There are a million webradio stations out there, but only a handful of true gems. The site called "Beyond the Beat Generation" is definitly one of them.

"Welcome to the world of obscurity. This is an archive - a museum! BEYOND THE BEAT GENERATION archives and publishes the entire, long forgotten 'wild' musical gems out of the great years of the sixties (1965-1969) to a bright audience by using today's technology as we call 'Stream Radio'.

The music formerly known as: Hippie music, Underground, 60's punk, Flower Power, Mod, Free-Form-Freak-out, Garage music, Psychedelia or Teen Beat, the weirdest, the worst, the most powerful and nastiest ever recorded. During the 60's all teens were obsessed by music, but only a few touched surface, all groups wanted to be, sound like, or look like 'The Beatles', 'The Rolling Stones', 'Pink Floyd', 'The Doors', 'Jefferson Airplane' or 'The Velvet Underground'. Music was a movement. Music was the expression of a lifestyle. Music was politics, a protest against establishment, wars and society." (Text taken from the site)

Now head over to www.beyondthebeatgeneration.com, tune in and enjoy...

One of our friends from the Hillbilly Souldiers, namely DJ Hooray, just released a free double feature mix, together with german based DJ Bene, called Just Take 45's. As the title already suggests, strictly hip-hop 45's from 2009 are being used, including my own little collab with 215 The Freshest Kidz called Illuminate. Check this one out, it's definitely worth it!

The few gems on MySpace are spread far apart, but they exist, ending in ing is one of them. I stumbled across his music about half a year ago on aforementioned platform and he's truly the epitomy of the bedroom producer in my opinion, taken his approach to music is the following: "I make beats using a laptop and some records I’ve salvaged from various places". Period. On his free download album Slow Songs Vol. 1, the London based producer blends his samples in a very eclectic way, easy to listen to, but still deep enough to give you the chills once in a while, especially on my personal favorite: Keep On Loving Me. If one were to find similarities with known artists, I'd place him somewhere between Kid Koala, a little bit of RJD2 and Hint's Portacabin Fever. Check this one out, it's worth it. Eagerly waiting for Volume 2.

Download the album HERE.
