i just figured out that i have forgotten to write a propper post for #29. That might have happened because it was a busy time. However, some goodies (news and olds, as always) for my and your listening pleasure. No crazy mixin in here but still a nice selection as i would say. sometimes you just need to release some energy. this one's dedicated to Geri. you will be missed!

Grab tape and cover HERE. enjoy that laidback journey. some of my alltime favs in there.

the 30st mixtape for my 30st birthday. isn't that nice :) 30 already!!! of course i mean the number of mixtapes, what did you think?!!!

this one is dedicated to all my friends and family out there (alive and dead) that accompanied me on my journey over the last thirty years. millions of thx for all the experiences. i would never want to miss one of them. good or bad. this mix includes what i generally mean when i use the word hip hop. experimental, futuristic, classic, old & new. to quote brother hunt: “diggin the crates for those rare beats, that rare hip hop ...” this one should include some tracks for you 90ties headz out there aswell. and rider: "again, thx for the shoutz!!!"

one more important thing: support artists! save the vinyl! buy it! play it! save it! now, what else can i say, but enjoy the selection and download the mix and coverartwork HERE. both prepared for a 60minute tape including cover. thirty, thirty!! LENS in da house ;)

Our favourite UK MC, a man named Rider Shafique has a feature track called "Space to breathe" on the upcoming debut album from transatlantic producer duo Herma Puma. Classic material...

"After meeting through a shared love of obscure jazz, library and funk records Herma Puma (transatlantic Hip Hop duo Pimpernel Jones (UK) and Simple X (US) quickly started to produce beats together. Their style of head nodding grooves are a melting pot of the last hundred years of music flipped into fresh production for today. Recently they have been putting the finishing touchs to their debut LP - Synchromystic - A future Hip Hop classic for the 21st Century feat the cream of Chicago and UK's Mcs."

After cutting his teeth by making music on various archaic computers and programs in his early years, Nosaj Thing is now, without a doubt, among L.A.'s finest musical modulators. His electronic soundscapes and wild beat tectonics play like vignettes that affect the listener's mind as deeply as he hits their soul. Nosaj Thing creates nothing less than the sound mastery of beat driven, experimental electronics from a gifted noise constructor. (text from website)

i just got the first issue of OOO-Magazine some days ago. with an incredibly nice - 5stars - Glen Porter 7inch called "Smile Now, Cry Later" but that's another story.

Anyhow, I flipped through the pages during my last subway and tramrides, looking at the featured b/w artworks (basically located in a graffiti, graphic and comic, ... context), reading the essays (about music, artists, sticker culture,...) and i must say: i absolutely enjoyed it.

Especially a text about John Coltrane and Flying Lotus that is trying to bring up similarities within their individual approaches in making music and what could be a connecting point between jazz (analog) and electronic music. I also found out, that Alice Coltrane was Flying Lotus's great aunt ...

I scanned the first page of the 6, so that you can make yourself a picture. To find out how this story ends. by the way: the size of the magazine is A6, which is perfect for bumpy "rides", cause you still have one free hand, haha. buy it, support it! handnumbered and ltd. 5$ should not make a difference. volume two was released 5 days ago.

best track EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER!!!! enjoy this one

Célia Mara Band
“…this is the sound of Nu-Brazil by way of Vienna…
Brash, confident and assured" (Songlines, UK)Genre: Nu Brazil, Dub, World, Ska, Latin-Funk; with Célia Mara (vc, g), Dieter Stemmer (kb), Sandra Lawson(eb), Harry Tanschek(dr), DJPhilta(e)

Nothing is pure. Rebel yourself.
Célia Mara makes music with a big smile. Singing about new, interesting times.
Célia Mara‘s Bastard Sound is an exciting, high quality dance-mix with thoughtful lyrics, illustrated by impressive live-visuals. „This is one for the hostels and student halls of Europe and South America; Manu Chao meets Yerba Buena meets Carlinhos Brown meets…“ states Fly global music culture, London;

Célia Mara is an engaging front woman, giving her soul to the audience - dancing, grooving, entertaining. She never fails to impress with her strong voice, the amazing vocal improvisations, which she quickly switches over to beat boxing and sometimes even ascend to trumpet solos. She plays her acoustic guitar with glamour, Brazilian rhythm and fun.
As a songwriter, Célia Mara focuses on playing her own songs. Célia Mara disrespectfully surfs between musical styles and rhythms, plays effortlessly with Retro-Brazil, Tango and traditional Afro-Brazilian grooves, mixes Nova MPB and Samba with Funk, Reggae, Balkan-folk, Glamour Rock and Hip Hop…
At the root of her music lies a marriage between Brazilian Music, Latino-folk, Funk and Viennese underground instrumental grooves. The lyrics, sung in Portuguese, English, German, Spanish and French, are urban poems that sing the voice of migrations and provide communication without any borders. Groovy, surprising, defying categorization.

On stage, you‘ll get an awesome band, transmitting this urban Brazilian feeling, groovy, funky underground … with an explosive frontlady and a lot of rebellion!
"Globalization never felt so sensual" writes Sebastian Fasthuber in the Viennese falter…
