Good ol tradition, the last weekend of June (25/6/2011, startin 12:00 to be exact) our favourite, and one of Austria´s biggest, Skate Contest is going down at Skatepark Gmunden, Upper Austria.

It´s already edition 8 of this annual madness. And like in the previous years "Rumble in the Park" will be hot again, full of skate action with riders from all over europe battling for fame, 1.500 Euro prize money and the famous ceramic trophies. Programm includes a BMX show with world champions Rich Vobr and Benno Hankowetz, live djing with Rotaug´s own Kompact, Lens J., Lemon, Exidas, Sake, Suga Cane, MC Thaiman and more..., relaxed family style BBQ atmosphere and a mad party, not to be missed.

Follow the village voice link. A very good statement to which there is nothing much to add; about this release, it being a "fond reminder of the wholesome joy of putting faith in the music" back then and the situation of being recognized as an artist or not ...

What I can most definitely say after listening to it several times is this: a very solid and emotionally varying - 30 minutes long - journey through 14 (very well remastered) instrumentals produced by "The Midnight Eez" between 1995 and 1996. A comment i made about one track called "night walk" earlier this week: "in a state of inner peace while listening to this". And I have nothing more to say than that. Very much recommended this one and - on top - it comes for a veeeery reasonable price. As long as supplies last i suppose!

Thank you All-City for digging this one out and making it affordable for anyone buying records and trying to support artists.

THE FRENCH INVASION Pt. 1

Edition 13. Mash Mash again and again. This time we proud to welcome french champion sound BHALE BACCE CREW. Playin Dancehall Reggae and Hip Hop inna classic soundsystem style, their selectahs boxes are filled with big 45s in all shades of reggae (early reggae, roots reggae, dancehall, digital, bare roots, stepper ...) and heavy dubplates from the big names in jamaican music business. But the microphone live action is really the strength of the collective with none less than 10 (!) MC´s & Singers, all with a different style, and a live saxophon player. Bhale Bacce also released five self-produced albums in the last 10 years, including intelligent, political as well as very personal lyrics combined with on point delivery and flow. Niceness!

Mash Mash Residents DJ KOMPACT´s true skool dopeness & EXIDAS´s mash up madness will do the rest to kill the night once and for all.
