it´s time again for some free music.

Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid is a conceptual artist, writer, and musician working in New York. He produced Ghost World: A Story in Sound for the Dokolo Foundation at the Venice Biennial 2007.

Brian Eno once famously remarked that the problem with computers is that there isn't enough Africa in them. I kind of think that its the opposite: they're bringing the ideals of Africa: after all, computers are about connectivity, shareware, a sense of global discussion about topics and issues, the relentless density of info overload, and above all the willingness to engage and discuss it all - that's something you could find on any street corner in Africa.

I just wanted to highlight the point: Digital Africa is here, and has been here for a while. This isn't "retro" - it's about the future. (quote from djspooky.com)

(flu / DER STANDARD, Printausgabe, 14.11.2007)

just found this article about the uk site tv-links.co.uk. the owner of the site was arrested on thursday for hosting links to copyrighted material on servers like youtube, google... just links! wtf?

this sounds pretty serious...

IPRED2 passed the eu parliament.

its a petiton that deals with copy crimes.

If IPRED2 is implemented without clear limits, "aiding, abetting, or inciting" copyright infringement on a "commercial scale" in the EU will become a crime. (copycrime.eu)

This one just looks awsome, like the first music gameboy.

it reminds me somehow that music has to be "play" _ed.

link: tonori-on site, uk-site

now to the facts...

The tenori-on a 'visible music interface', or a digital music instrument featuring a 16x16 matrix of LED lights, allowing even non-musicians to play sounds & improvise intuitively. each LED light also functions as a touch-sensitive switch that is capable of emulating related sounds when touched. when users push a switch a short time, a ripple of light & sound spreads out. when a switch is held longer, the light dot & sound will be played repeatedly (looped). several tenori-ons can be wirelessly connected & synchronized
