Understand the Son of Man!

We've been hard at work digesting the Release Tour of SOR002 Return of July / Blessed and are proud to present to you the first Live Cut of Rider Shafique's Son of Man over the Live production of myself, DJ Kompact. Enjoy as we enjoyed having this fabulous evening!

But that's not all, I've got a couple more news for y'all. Since 215 The Freshest Kidz are showing us Random Love on their Myspace Page, I guess we have to show some back and make you aware of their futuristic collaboration with Berlin based producer Robot Koch. Check it out HERE. There is even a free bonus track available for download HERE. Freshhhhhhh! Try to check back once in a while on our Releases section, since you will be hearing more of 215:TFK later this year on Sonido Ojo Rojo!

Last but not least, Icke&Er, originators of the infamous Richtig Geil, have their own website now and rumor has it that they are planning their comeback as we speak. Graduate film student Reza Dolatabad created the khoda short movie from 6,000 individual paintings shown at a rate of 20 per second. Production took over two years to complete and the result is trippy and from mindblowing quality.

Ladies and Gentleman, please give a warm and friendly round of applause as we welcome the latest member of our rotaug - family:

THAIMAN aka trademark aka mic thaisn

As one of Austria´s dopest MC´s, Thai definitly paid his dues, constantly touring clubs and organising jams all over the country for the last couple of years. Thai is a founding member of austrian hiphop-collective DNK-Movement based in Salzburg. He dropped his tight debut-LP "Der Einzug" in 2006. 10 Tracks full of clever wordplay, very personal storytelling and heavy beats with a jazz influence.

Since then he´s workin on different projects such as "Luxusthail" with Demolux scheduled to drop 2009 and touring and recording with SK Invitational Big Band with Flip (Texta). As we speak, he also started recording tunes with our very own DJ Kompact for his own next album plus the upcoming full-length Kompact album.

It's been quiet around here, but don't let this fool ya, since there's been a lot going on these days:

We're not only heading into 2009 at full throttle, as you could learn from the previous post and the visual changes, but we're currently also at the final stage of finishing up our first major Sonido Ojo Rojo vinyl release that goes by the name of Return of July / Blessed feat. Rider Shafique & Caroline Scott, produced by DJ Kompact. If you're interested, or you want to preorder, don't hesitate to visit the release page...

No proper release without a proper celebration, so here's an update on the corresponding events preceding the street date of January 30th 2009:

There will be an infamous Message Party this weekend hosted by DJ CUT-EX and DJ KOMPACT, checkout the event page here to learn more...

The week after this one is packed with dates concerning the release, all of the events will be featuring Rider Shafique from the UK.

Alton Ellis passes away!

Today the Music World mourns the passing of Reggae-Legend
Alton Ellis, who died last night after a long struggle against the
effects of lymphatic cancer. His talent and influence was immense
and his loss will be felt by all who ever had the pleasure of his
company. A kind and modest man, he always had time for his
family, friends and fans, and his loss is more than a terrible blow
not only to jamaican music, but to the world at large!

Rest in Peace, Big Man!

recently i´ve read an article about the impact of the surveillance system in the UK. the amazing fact presented, was that when it comes to efficiency, the CCTV system, to put it in the words of Chief Inspector Mick Neville of the London Metropolitan police, is a total fiasco and a waste of public monies.

...a documentary about the current state of copyright and culture.
the world of music nowadays is a complicated one. the internet has made it possible to access any digital information almost everywhere on the planet. in chase of the question if intellectual property can be protected in a world that is gloabaly connected but where laws still change at borders, good copy bad copy shows the different angles and frontiers of the problem.
and... the documentary is free for download
