make arista records release Q-tip's masterpiece "kamaal the abstract". the album was to be released in april 2002, but the release was cancelled due to the fact, that the record label deemed the album too "un-commercial." its currently just available on "promos", that became rare and expensive collector's items. lets make it official!! sign the petition

count is at about 10.600 now. shouldn't that be enough already?!   that story definitely reminds me of darc mind's DEBUT album "symtomatic of a greater Ill". this one was not released by loud records back in 1997. just one track (visions of a blur) appeared on "soul in the hole" soundtrack and was released on 12" back then. it was

one of my favourites tracks at that time but noone ever heard anything more about them. 9 years later, anticon made the whole thing available for general public. i think "darc mind" (mc kevroc, x-ray and nick wiz) would definitely have been another classic among names like oc, mobb deep, das efx, diamond d and all the other sounding names of mid, late 90ties. i don't want to know, how annoying it must be to make a (debut) album, which is a pure deep stoic-silent banger and not released!

as we're talking about dubstep/jungle/breakcore/dub/minimal/electro ... i can also recommend a store i found in leipzig (germany) on tuesday. its called "NERDRECORDS" and is located in an old east-german fabric complex called "FEINKOST" (karl-liebknecht-strasse/südvorstadt). the names say it all! "nerdish fine food" for all you nerds out there! found some delicious sweets out there... too many to buy them all - it was a jungle trip ...

by the way the guy who owns it, will take good care of you - he's really nice and definitely is a nerd too! he shares the place with another guy who looks like venetian-snares and sells old turntables, furniture and design stuff (nice one and not too expensive). so if you come to leipzig - which is much beautifuller than i thought and which moreover could be some kind of a graffiti paradise for some of you - make sure you say hello!

greeeetz outta leipzig my dear

nerdish friends out there!

obs

... today i spent some, and even more" time at "phil" and while hangin' around and drinking coffee, i felt like flicking through some records that were fooling around over there ... one record, another record, ... and another record! when i touched "the eraser" i stopped.

something was different and it was more than just the coverartwork that was faszinating - i already saw the cover several times, and thought "great cover" - BUT, i never touched it! black and white in a relief ... even if the music was bad - it is definitely NOT - one would have to buy this record! i "never" caressed record covers like that before. maybe i did, but i perfected it today "the eraser" by thom yorke ...

"ATLANTIKWALL"

atlantikwall

it features a selection of photographs of the atlantik wall around cap ferret. those coastal fortifications were "built" by adolf hitler from 1942 to 44 along the western coast of europe, to defend the german third reich against the western allies.

one topic of this workgroup is to show, how this former bunkers and batteries developed to a kind of "black board" for people, to express themselves. and how the appearance of their surface changes every year. during autumn and winter lots of history is peeled and washed away by sand and sea, as parts of those monumental signs of time are too ... new stories are ment to be written every year. be sure i will continue documenting them ...

moose

Paul Curtis aka Moose is no regular graffiti artist. In fact, he’s the reverse-graffiti artist. He creates his street art by *cleaning* the dirt and grime off of surfaces!

Authorities are baffled: is selective cleaning a crime?

The tools are simple: A shoe brush, water and elbow grease, he says.

British authorities aren’t sure what to make of the artist who is creating graffiti by cleaning the grime of urban life. The Leeds City Council has been considering what to do with Moose. "I’m waiting for the kind of Monty Python court case where exhibit A is a pot of cleaning fluid and exhibit B is a pair of my old socks," he jokes. (taken from www.neatorama.com)
