After a long and utterly sadism-less period of patience (must have been more than 5 years now), one of my favorite (and not only mine) gaming experiences of outdated game engines is at roughly 85% development stage and will hopefully be released later this year: Halfquake Sunrise. It is the sequel to the infamous Halfquake and Halfquake Amen, further continuing the series of pure sadism. People who know the deal are well aware of this and will love the new installment instantly. Others who don't have a clue what I'm talking about, here's a tiny explanation: The whole HQ universe is a first person "shooter" where you, the player, take on the path of "Mr. Victim" whose whole purpose is to suffer through various levels of ridiculously hard jump&run challenges, puzzles and quests. All of this within a neatly designed monochrome universe and highlighted with some superb sounddesign and songwriting. If you should lose your mind whilst on this journey, don't worry, there's always a suicide booth nearby to save you.

If you still can't imagine what it's about, I suggest trying your luck with the precedent part, Halfquake Amen, which is available for free at Muddasheeps homebase The Farm. (You only have to own a copy of Half Life, since it's a mod) Liked it? Want to be amongst the first lucky victims to experience a new dimension of suffering? Then sign up for the death list here!

So, what are you waiting for? Death?

Btw, here's a little teaser trailer for HQ:S. Enjoy!

...and since we're that much into games already, especially within the Half-Life realm and its creators Valve, I might just share some "good news everyone" to the Mac community out there. Steam, an online games platform by Valve, which hosts all of the Half-Life game universe and a s***load of titles by a multitude of other developers, will be ported to Mac within the course of this year, including all of the Source based games like Team Fortess 2, CS:S, HL2, etc. and Portal 2 at the end of this year. This was made possible firstly due to Intel based Mac architecture and secondly due to the implementation of OpenGL within the Source game engine. If you're interested, here's the original Valve press release.

Come along, come along ...

i catch up doin something i should have done months ago, but somehow i always just missed it. i would have so totally loved to see this concert, that was taking place for the - i think - 25th anniversary of IAM in 2008. just the youtube video gives me goose-bumps every time i watsch it. also check out the live version of "nes sous la meme etoile" (youtube), one of the dopest IAM tracks and my alltime favourite ever with "demain c'est loin". shuriken get's crazy on that one! enjoy this ... "demain c'est loin" (youtube).

As you might have noticed due to our teasers or the blogpost below ... We have a new and precious "active member/ part of our little family" representing for the female gender!!! My beloved woman and our friend:

Sira Zoé Schmid

studying at the "Academy of Fine Arts Vienna" with a main focus on "Art & Photography" she is basically working in the fields of Artistic Photography (in form of self portraits or/and analog double exposures), Fashion Photography (for young designers and friends) and Installation. For samples of her work please check both: her artist profile and website.

we did; but let's all just do it again; say
"WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELCOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!"

(*editor's note: we love dolphins, it was the grill that needed to be killed)

For everyone who loves a little bit of JAZZ & Swing here's a small delicacy: 100 guitarists playing Django Reinhardts famous "Minor Swing" all together. Since it is on the ARTE+7 page of the program "Metropolis", that is available for limited time only you should enjoy THIS (link) NOW!!! I just can recommend it and above all Django's music. Its wonderfull, electrifying and just the best to get your self moving!!!

In this context I also need to recommend the Woody Allen movie "Sweet and Lowdown", which I deeply love and watched a thousend times. The "comedic biopic focused on the life of fictional jazz guitarist Emmett Ray" (Imdb), starring Jean Penn, Samantha Morton and Uma Thurman, is an homage to the Swing era. Especially moving was - besides the music - Samantha Mortons acting in the role of Hattie!!! She really touched me. So watch it and listen to the wonderfull music!!!!
