dear friends, as i was diggin the net for some new crates, i wanted to let you know about those:

01| "Gagle - 3peat instrumentals": a blazin instrumental release by Dj Mitsu straight outta japan on Jazzy Sport (one of my favourite labels right now). It comes as a dj friendly double vinyl that says "for real djs" on the cover front. if you understand japanese, also dont miss the "3peat" original album with vocals. and definitelly digg all their other releases, especially Dj Mitsu's hip hop workout on one of my alltime deep house favourites "pepe bradock - deep burnt" called "snow revolution". I love it! Gagle are Dj Mitsu the beats, Dj Mu-R and Hunger. more information on their myspace. there is no englisch version of their official website.

02| Fantastic Planet's - Fantastic JJ Project. The guys from "la fine equipe" released a mixtape taking "Dr. Who Dat?"'s album "beat journey", asking some friends, singers and mcs to perform over it making a dope whole thing out of it. get it for free here on their myspace website. and: they will release an album soon as they announced. more info as soon as there is some.

03| Volfoniq - Dub in Taiwan: a three track EP by french dub producer Volfoniq who's releasing on various netlabels like a quiet bump, jahtari (we wrote post on those two earlier) and les cristaux liquident. three dub dancefloor bangers. two of them with french lyrics by tribuman and pier, one with chinese by KouChouChing. you will like this!!!!! my favourites so far: dub in taiwan and jammin sauce with bo marley and disrupt (jahtari). the mp3s are for free download in very good quality. support artists, buy records! volfoniq has three vinyls out. DIGG DEEP!

as we posted a lot about music lately anyway, i stop this now and come back soon with an 8-bit, chiptune special. and if u're in vienna don't miss gerhard richters exhibition at albertina and fall into the endless space of his "seescape (cloudy), 1969" for some time. one influencing painting in the lens history. greets

just to let you all know whats going on in the quiet ... the Obahuba masters for our (Dj Kompact & Lens J) soon to be released "Hart & Zart" - 12inch vinyl are ready. big thank you for the great job to patrick pulsinger. watch out! more information on this one is coming soon.

Lens and me already made you aware a couple of times about the new P.U.T.S. album called Fun DMC. Now I stumbled across a video of their track called The Wiz. Check it out!

this thread is supposed to give you some information about the possibilities to create music on the nintendoDS. as far as it comes to home-brewed applications you will need a ds card adapter like Edge, R4, CycloDS, ect.

dear friends. february 2009 has already started and its time for me to announce some of my 2008 released hip hop and related music vinyl favourites and one unexpected banger:

first of all an album i already wrote a review on earlier this year: The Jazzliberatorz "clin d'oeil" (and mainly all last years kif records releases like those from T-Love, The Drumbrothers, Hocus Pocus and Melomaniac); Dday One's "heavy migration" album; Cutchy Hopkins album "walking sdrawkcab"; Dal-Green's crazy and extraordinary album "cut basic"; Busy P's - Pedrophilia picturedisc, Mister Modo & Ugly Mac Beer's track "not afraid" feat. Jessica Fitoussi; Budamunky's wednesday 7"; Othello's "alive at the assembly line" LP; of course People under the Stairs new album "FUN DMC" and Q-Tip's "The Renaissance";... Finders Keepers "Ersen" turkish psychelelic funk album re-release, The Lions "jungle struttin" LP and so on... there would be a lot to write about every single one of them, but as

GZA's 2008 released album "pro tools" was an unexpected banger for me, i will focus and write a little bit more on that one. after multiple spins and intense listening i must say: for me personally - the best wutang members & GZA release since a very, very long time. the RZA produced second track "alphabets" could directly originate from the liquid swords album without a doubt and i had it in a very heavy rotation lately and still - a real wu-banga although it does not define the albums style at all. he has a lot of different producers on the run like Dreddy Kruger, Bronze Nazareth, Mathematics, Black Milk ... defnitelly worth checking this one out ...

as always and everywhere: make yourself your own picture and see what 2009 brings. definitelly don't miss dj kompact's 7" releases and watch out for the obahuba 12" that is coming soon. elevate your mind! peace, da lens

i can say it was a great long weekend we (dj kompact, me, our better halves and a bunch of friends) spent in zagreb, the "cab club" and the big brother house you could call "la cage aux folles". zagreb, a mixture of graz and istanbul as - i would say - came up with some great hospitality from beko's and william's side (big thank you for that!!!! on this side), amazing sea food at "korcula restaurant" (if u ever go there try the best sepia-risotto you ever had), the best fast food cevapcici i have ever eaten and "last but definitelly not least" a blazin party with a lot of bottles of "medica" (rakia with honey you can get in hundreds of variations), really nice people in an underground cellar location that was built during tito's leadership and not changed over the last 30!!! years and a guy on the bar (the owner of cab club), who's sitting there for already 30 years, typing the amount he charges for a drink in a calculator to tell you after. he got fast over the years, believe me!

getting to know some really nice and intersting new people, phat phillie from blackout entertainment among them, we enjoyed our stay, made people dance and went to bed "drunk as a skunk". some of us a little bit earlier, some a little bit later. "beko". william. and all of you that joined us. thanx for the weekend and a load of new experiences. it was great and zagreb, we will come back!

some things you should check out: cab club, b-side for dancers, william collins, restaurant korcula (teslina 17), beko's smart shop and his tshirts (ilica 37), radio101, blackouthiphop.com/tv and a nice big daddy kane documentary, zagreb and the hatmaker at the opposite of the big brother house ...
