Once again engaging in an area of great importance in my works, the decontextualization, reduction and abstraction of space and meaning, in this project I am deconstructing space, that is meant to serve traffic in the near future.
What purpose does a tunnel have, if there are no cars, no trains passing through? Starting with this question I looked at different tunnel projects still under construction and captured a short timeframe, which in this exact form will never exist anymore, trying to get a feeling of time and space across, one wouldn’t have in a regular “passing through” situation.
Resulting the absence of pedestrians, automobiles, trains and therefore velocity, the architecture of the tunnel unfolds in a unique manner to the recipient. An almost disturbing feeling of emptiness and coolness pairs itself with the eyecatching effect of the center perspective I’ve chosen, suggesting the desoriented feeling one has when confronted with real tunnel vision.
